“Thoughts on Photography”, and my “Thoughts on Living a Creative Life—Being Stuck and Uninspired”!

This is a re-post from my main Photography Blog,

I am re-posting because this is a very important topic, that is, the feeling of being stuck and uninspired as an Artist.

Don’t you: Don’t you think that when you become stuck as a Creative, it is a serious situation, which affects your very creative soul?!? I find this stuckness, for lack of a better word, to be devastating to my soul. It can be depression-making if the cloud of stuckness hangs over my head too long. It has been hanging there for some time now, and I am worried. I am concerned. I could use some support now, and none is there.

☆How do you feel when you are standing at the edge of the Abyss, and no one is there to pull you back?

It is a very lonely road to travel alone, and the sorting out process takes longer to work out—that “sorting out” of the creative part of your mind. Creativity is still in me, and I know eventually I will see the light again, but it is so difficult.

I think that all of the “digital-static” that surrounds us when we use any device nowadays, makes so much noise, the healing process takes very much longer. I think I need less digital noise, and more, and better, consistent and dependable external forces, to help me gain creative momentum.

What goes around comes around. It is useless of me to ask other creative minds for support. It doesn’t come to me, I don’t know why. There have been a handful of subscribers who I genuinely believe care about the Art Photography I publish at my blogs. I believe that maybe a handful of subscribers actually take the time to read my blog posts where I give my “Thoughts on Photography”, and my “Thoughts on Living a Creative Life.” That matters to me—that my subscribers actually take some knowledge, or information, away with them from my blog posts.

Nevertheless, life as a creative is not always rainbows and sunshine. Sometimes, the Universe gives you a major Smack-Down! If that happens to you, be grateful for any support that comes your way. Never forget the people who offer you a kind word. Never forget and always appreciate, the people who help you get back on track to your Creative Life!

For now that is all. The reposting of the blog post is below.

Yes, I have become rather uninspired at the moment.

I am truly having difficulty feeling good about Creating and Designing NEW Art Photography! Don’t worry, I am not alone. At some point I think that most Creative’s will reach a horrible stretch in their creative lives where the main question they ask themselves is, “Why?”

I am asking myself that question, “Why?”

☆ There must be some overwhelming drive to make an Artist keep creating new artwork. When that ‘Driving Force’ becomes stalled in space, so to speak, inertia sets in and it leads to “Why?”

I believe that Without Inspiration, an Artist will find it very difficult to honestly create artworks they are proud of, and that joy to exhibit those new artworks, fades away.

The ‘Driving Force’ will return — The Joy will Return in Time.

■ “A body at rest will remain at rest until it is acted upon by an external force!”

I believe that Physics law is true for Artists who are in a creative rut: it will take some external force to nudge them, to get the momentum and creativity rolling again.

The External Force:

  1. It could be as simple as Seeing Something with Fresh Eyes.
  2. It could be help and encouragement from a fellow Artist.
  3. It could be a supportive comment from someone who admires the Artist’s work.
  4. It could be travelling to a new environment to liven the soul.
  5. It could be a sale of the Artist’s work.
  6. It could be the prospect and looking forward to an upcoming exhibition.
  7. It could be many, many things.

☆ Positive ‘External Forces’ can have a huge positive impact on an Artist who has become uninspired, become stuck in a creative rut, or even become strangled and stressed out with bad personal news to the point that the mind is overwhelmed to the point that it cannot concentrate on being creative….it can happen…and it has happened to me—now.

I am constantly thinking of ways to get back to being my creative self, but some personal roadblocks must be cleared first, and I am one who needs Positive ‘External Forces’ when things become overwhelmingly stressful.

I have no solutions, yet, but I will, I just need time to sort things out.

I don’t know if my Art Photography truly inspires anyone — I really hope I am, or, my work is of some inspiration to someone. I would like to believe that in some small way, at least, my Art Photography has added some artistic life to the Universe’s overall artistic ocean. ~ I said that. ~

That is all for now. More Art Photography is coming soon.

Title:  “MEPHISTOPHELES, Transmogrification #3, v3“.

Creation Date:  31 Dec 16.

“Fire Portraits” Series.

Year:  2016.

Influence:  “To Reign in Hell” novel by Steven Brust.

Art Photographs:  Photography of fire shaped into Portrait-like imagery, of the characters, angels, in “To Reign in Hell”, written by Steven Brust.

Note  1:  After doing the first art photo, I said to myself, “I’m seeing some faces from Brust’s novel in this image, and I need to investigate, and work this out further to see what develops.”  Note 2:  One very interesting aspect of Brust’s story is that all of the angels were essentially good until a conflict and deception arose among the angels.  On top of that, the three “evil” angels in the story ( evil according to many ‘modernised’ views…modern being several thousand years for Satan/Lucifer/Devil, and hundreds for Mephisto ) — Satan and Lucifer are the same entity,  and Mephistopheles is the name invented for the historical Johann Georg Faust (c. 1480–c. 1540), and in demonology, Mephistopheles was “one of the seven chief devils and the tempter of Faust”.  Nevertheless, in Brust’s story, Satan and Lucifer are “First-Borns”, and Mephistopheles is an archangel, not devils or demons. Note 3:  My Brust angels are a contradiction because they are made of fire.  Angels of fire, I think is a contradiction.

“Faustus: Stay, Mephistopheles, and tell me, what good will

my soul do thy lord?
Mephistopheles: Enlarge his kingdom.
Faustus: Is that the reason he tempts us thus?
Mephistopheles: Solamen miseris socios habuisse doloris.

(It is a comfort to the wretched to have companions in misery)”.

Christopher Marlowe, Dr. Faustus
